The Zombie Survival Thread.

ok recently I've been obsessed with zombies. I've been readin books that got zombies in 'em, I've been watching zombie movies, I've even been playing the Resident Evil series all over again.

Then i started wondering. "WHat would I do if a zombie riot were to break out in our world?" I started thinking of good places to hide, who to take with me, what to arm myself with and the like. here is my list:

weapon: Steal base ball bat. (from local sultan centre)
Gear: Riot gear ( from police station)
Base of operations: Lucky for me, Kuwait has many homes with high walls and strong gates surrounding them. All I need to do is find an empty one.
Team members: My brother since I can always count on him. Anyone else better not slow me down.

what would you guys do in this situation?

First of all, baseball bat is just going to get you killed. And then you'll be a zombie. And that means more trouble for the rest of us, you know, the smart ones. We should do you off right now to avoid any complications.

If possible, i'd go to Australia, but if i were to think realistically i'd die because there's nowhere to hide around here that's got food, electricity, a computer and zombie-proof-ness.

Weapon: Kitchen knife; the closest thing to a weapon you can find in a norwegian home unless you're a hunter, or in the home of a hunter.
Gear: Clothes, because there's nothing else to wear.
Base of Operations: My home, til they manage to break through the wooden door, or the windows, which wouldn't be hard.
Team member: None.

weapon: Anything a prison would have.
Gear: Riot gear, from the prison
Base of operations: A prison...quite secure me thinks, plus you know the'd have a huge stash of food too.
Team members: A prison worker with keys and knowledge. Of course I'd try to get my not so stupid friends/family to come along.

What's with this riot gear malarkey? It's only going to slow you down. Zombies, as we all know, are slow. And that means the best defence is being able to run fast. And of course a good shottie but you can't have everything.

If i'm holed up in a prison and some zombie gets in somehow...it can't bite my face off before i smash it's skull in? It's more of a protection when they are right up on my ass...plus you may run...but you will tire eventually.

waay ahead of you guys
1 - homes are NOT good hideouts
you have windows, doors and limited supply of food
2 - malls/stores are much better, petucularly the ones with
pulldown/pullacross cages so even if they get through the glass, they can't get past that.
3 - malls are better because more team member can be
found there, not to mention new supplies

riot gear = win because as we all know. zombies are rotting sticks of flesh. they'y don't have that much power behind their bite anymore. so leather or this gear would be helpful.

running is smart, but people do run out of stamina, and lets say you get into a spot and you're surrounded by a huge amount of zombies.

I picked a steal bat because its harder to break. a regular baseball bat would probably break after I get about 12 zombies. and until I get my gear from the police station, I won't be having guns since we don't have wal-mart in kuwait :P

In my apartment, I can pick between either two arnis sticks, aluminum baseball bat, or jack knife. I'd probably stick to my two arnis sticks and knife until I could find a larger blunt object. I have a hammer but it's too damn short to be useful. In fantasy, I would love to have a shield and broad sword plus two magnums in holsters, just in case.

Gear? My BDU and black jungle boots, or probably jsut running shoes. Boots can be quite heavy and I don't see myself walking through much in Gainesville that would require boots. I'd pack on some high-fiber delights to keep me stuffed as long as possible until I could make it to the mall on the other side of town.

Base of operations? Anywhere with "unlimited supply of food" where I could form up some form of barricades. This is just until I can find a car to drive away in. Make my way to an army base, first off. There's a super walmart , three publixes, two winn-dixies and a kash&karry mart in town. I'd stop in each one to get more food and water on my way to the mall. Maybe grab a chainsaw at wal-mart.

Team? Anybody smart around me. If it comes to it, i'll hook up with some homies nearby, since I live so close to the ghetto.

Or do you get to pick your base and then press the "Spawn zombies outside of my base" button?

As for me, I'd go Evil Dead style, chop of my hand put on a chainsaw, and a shotgun that you only have to reload once every 1,5hours like in the movie. I'd then put on my bath robe and clogs and run to the nearest bomb shelter. I'd then try to get in touch with anyone who has alooooooot of weed to take with me into the bombshelter. And he has to be non idiotic.

I'd use the prisoners as bait as I kill the inside zombies off slowly from a control tower?

But in the Dawn of The dead movie there's like 3 zombies in there.. And there's bound to be more than 3 people in a mall >.<
And from the arguments you're making it sounds quite easy to kill the zombies, so why not just whack every single one of em within a radius(spelling?) of a mile and then airlift the berlin wall over and live happily forever after.. or something like that..
oh and don't mind me I don't wanna spoil the thread or anything, just that my logic's failing me atm so I have to question everything :P

Weapons: Shotgun (i already own one.) and a sword (i have a collection but only one is battle-ready and sharpened - the rest are displays).

Clothes: Realistically the best thing i own would be my air-soft / paintball gear, water-resistant tough material with some hard plastic reinforcment.

Hideout / plan: - actulley i think the best strategy would be to keep moving, i would take my brother with me and go in his jeep... that thing could roll over any zombie. you would have to make stops for food / gas but if you kept going you could find clear spots to do this.
