So yeah, just thought you'd like to know.
Concerning the most pplz on the internet I meet, they porbably know themselves, but for those of a more eloquent species of man that have come to terms with some divine power to wipe away the inborn stupidity of our race in themselves, I thought I'd share an experience.
It usually starts out like this: You think you're smart. You think you're competent. You think you got it all figured out. What you don't think is, you're wrong.
With this very common set of mind as a starting point, catastrophe is ready to hit hard.
After some blissfull, happy good good times during christmas, due to some kickass presents I get off my lazy ass to install the new pc hardware I got. A terrabyte hard disk drive as well as a Geforce 9800 GT. Yay, I say, doubling my hard disk space, I thought I'd also cram out some fuck up hdd's. 6 hdd's are a lot I thought, so I took out a 80 gig and a 250 gig, putting the files on my terrabyte. Then I want to install windows on a partition I prepared on my new terrabyte hdd, cause my old system was on my 80 gig hdd. All right, I didn't pay attention when implenting the new Terrabyte HDD into my old windows system, resulting in it being a dynamic hdd, instead of a basic one. Basically means, no OS on that hdd.
GREEEAT.
Good, I take my Anime/Manga hdd, 250 gig, copy the files, and terminate the partition, make a basic partition, restart and try to install windows xp. Ok, so I come to the screen where I'm supposed to choose which hdd to use.
I have nightmares of blue screens ever since.
So I magically forget pretty much everything I did before, or I just don't care, nor do I give a shit that I'll give a shit later. Friends came over to chill, I needed music. And I needed it NOW. So I picked the only hdd with no more than one partition, because I was certain it was my old Anime/Manga hdd. Nevermind the byte count nor the backround knowledge, that dynamic hdd's do not show how many partitions really are on the hdd and that just fucking 15 minutes ago I split my old Anime/Manga hdd into two partitions.
Pow I terminate all data on my one terrabyte hdd.
900 Gigabytes of everything, gone. With the press of a button. I've lost all of my games, pc and psp, animes, mangas, series and a bunch of movies. So yeah, actually everything (except my mp 3's, I lost them the same way a couple of years ago, making it this time all the more stupid and painfull...).
Devastated by stupidity I thought, man fuck it all, tried to install the OS anyway, bluescreen galore. Then all of a sudden Monitor stays black when starting up, until it just shuts down. Result of days of figuring shit out: My screwed up power supply fucked up my brand new graphics card, including at least 2 DDR Ram sticks = 1 gig . HELL YEAH!
So I start this damn fine new year with a downgraded pc. A really, badly downgraded piece of chunk.
So the next time you see someone do something incredibly stupid, don't just laugh like an idiot, give him some emotional support on this by far underrestimated handicape.
I'm gonna cry now...again.
