Story:
This series is truly a must see for not just anime fans, but for all those online gamers who spend countless hours RPGing (Roleplaying) or just power gaming on games like UO (Ultima Online), EQ (EverQuest), DAoC (Dark Age of Camelot), AC (Asheron's Call 1 or 2), and the many titles i can not list! These games are examples of what we call a MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online RolePlaying Game). This series primary storyline takes place in a game just like the ones I listed above. In the year 2007, a revolutionary online RPG is released, it is known as "The World", in this game, there is no true object, you can be a power gamer, a roleplayer, or choose any role you wish. But, something that was not expected or even noticed by the general public occured. A person, becomes trapped (he cannot log out of the game) in this virtual reality world, this characters name is Tsukasa. He seems to have little to no memory left of the real world, just enough to realize in the beginning of the series that he hates it and does not want to return. Tsukasa is a person who I can relate to in personallity. He is alsomuch like Shinji from Neon Genesis Evangelion, he is afraid to speak his mind, he becomes very fearful and depressed as things progress, and everything primarily revolves around him. |

Characters:
All the characters Tsukasa meets, have very unique personallities and they all seem to be key to what makes this series worth the 10 I have given it for its unique and amazing storyline. There is so much I would like to go into about this series storyline but I really do not wish to spoil it for no one. Once the series is complete in Japan, which around this point it is close to completion, I will most likely update more on the storyline and place all of the key characters descriptions in this review! |

Music:
I can truly only put the musical themes in this anime in one word "WOW!". I do not think I have seen a anime that uses its themes so much, and yet, so right! The music is very much instrumental or techno based, but it seems the music makes the anime more enjoyable to watch, as it just fits in perfectly with the scenario being presented in the episodes. In many ways it deserves the 10 I have given it, and I do recommend for those who use IRC for downloading most of your anime content, to take time to search for the two currently released OST's for this series! |

|
Animation:
The animation is also amazing, in many ways it can deserve a 10, but the reason I have give it a 9 is because I have seen so much decent animes recently that can compare in their own artistic style. The animation is wonderful, the feelings of the characters are truly being expressed, and that is excellent considering the storyline. The stye follows through up all the current aired episodes. In many ways I do not feel it is a unique style, but I do think it fits the general Japanese animation look. And at certain parts of the series, for example, in episode 1, where Kinkan is struck by the monster known through the series as Tsukasa's Guardian, the reflection it shows off of Kinkan's character himself is amazing. Finally I will put the animation for this series to be something that should be commended as excellent at the least! |

Comments:
Though I seem to place alot of my comments in this review, I do have a few final words to say! Hack Sign is a must see, it holds good replay value as well. It is a series you will enjoy whether you are alone, with your friends or just somewhere out there in space. So make some popcorn, grab a soda, sit down and watch, I know you will enjoy it!! |
